The Fine Print, Plainly

What we collect, why, and what we’ll never do with it. Effective November 2026.

What we collect. When you write to us through the project form, we receive what you type: your name, your company if you give one, your phone and email, the project address or city, the kind of project, your timeline, your notes, and any sketch, survey or photograph you attach. The print inquiry form takes your name, your email, the print, size and finish you chose, the city you would ship to, and anything else you add. The Journal form takes your email and nothing else. Our host, Netlify, keeps ordinary server logs (IP address, browser, time of request) for security, as every host does. We do not buy data about you and we do not combine what you give us with data from anywhere else.

How long we keep it. Project inquiries for two years after our last exchange, or for the life of the project if we work together and for the period our professional and tax records require after that. Print inquiries for one year. Your Journal address until you unsubscribe. Files you attach are moved into our studio records and removed from the form service. We export and delete form submissions from Netlify on a regular schedule.

Why we collect it. To reply to you, to prepare the proposal or the print quote you asked for, and to send the letters if you asked for them. Sending the project or print form never adds you to the Journal. The letters go out from info@lauderdalestudio.com; each one carries our postal address and an unsubscribe link, and an unsubscribe takes effect within ten business days, usually the same day. We do not use your information for advertising, we do not build profiles, and we do not sell, rent or trade it to anyone.

Who handles it for us. A few services do the carrying. Netlify hosts the site and receives form submissions, and runs them through Akismet to filter spam. Resend sends the letters. Microsoft 365 holds our email and studio files. Each works under its own terms and holds the data only to do that job for us. We share your information with no one else unless the law requires it or you ask us to, for example passing your drawings to your builder.

Nothing from elsewhere. Every file on this site, the type included, is served from our own host. No outside service sees your visit by default.

Cookies and measurement. The site itself sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser except your answer to the cookie question, so that we do not ask again. We would like to measure how the studio is found and, when we advertise, whether an advertisement led to a conversation. That measurement runs only after you say yes to the line at the foot of the screen, and you can change your answer at any time from the link at the foot of this page. If you say no, or say nothing, nothing is measured. Tools we may use once you say yes: a visit counter that stores no personal profile, and Meta's pixel when we run advertising on Instagram or Facebook. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal and treat it as a no.

Your rights and how to use them. Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask for a copy. Email info@lauderdalestudio.com or write to the address below. We answer within 45 days; if a request is complicated we may take up to 45 more and will tell you why. We may ask you to confirm you are who you say you are before we send anything. If we decline a request we will say why, and you may appeal by replying to that message with the word appeal; a different person at the studio reviews it and answers within 60 days. Residents of Texas, California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut and the other states with privacy laws have these rights by law; we extend them to everyone. We never treat you differently for using them. We have not sold personal information and do not intend to.

Children. This site is for adults planning buildings. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and if we learn that we have, we delete it.

If you are writing from outside the United States. We reply to inquiries from Europe, the United Kingdom and elsewhere. When we do, we process your information because you asked us to, and only for that. It is held in the United States by the services named above. You have the same rights listed above, and you may also contact the data protection authority where you live.

When this page changes. We date each version at the top. If we change something that matters, such as a new service that handles your data, we post the change here at least two weeks before it takes effect, and Journal readers hear about it in the next letter.
