ARLINGTON PERGOLA
Arlington, Texas · Studio projectA ROOM OUTDOORS, SET INTO THE LAWN.
A back garden in Arlington: a louvred pergola over a stone terrace, a fire table beneath it, and the lawn left open to the fence.
Concept
One room outdoors, placed where the evening light lands. Stone pavers lead out from the house, and the lawn stays whole around the terrace.
Structure
A black aluminum pergola with adjustable louvres on a concrete terrace with gravel joints, a linear fire table, and planted beds along the fence line. Drawn as a plan set for the city.
Challenge
A flat lawn with nowhere to sit and no reason to stay outside after dark.
Result
A terrace that works from morning coffee to the fire at night.
