LANCASTER DATA CENTER
Lancaster, Texas · Studio projectA HARD SITE, SOFTENED.
A data center in Lancaster, planted: an evergreen screen along the long wall, flowering trees at the entry and seasonal beds at every curb.
Concept
Plant at the scale of the building. A long row of evergreens breaks up the wall, and flowering trees mark the door.
Structure
Layered beds of evergreen shrubs, flowering trees and perennials along the building, the drives and the parking islands, shown in 3D views with a plant palette for the crew.
Challenge
A long blank wall and acres of paving.
Result
The entry reads from the street, and the wall reads as a garden edge.
