BENBROOK GARDEN
Benbrook, Texas · Studio projectSTONE, WATER AND QUIET EDGES.
A full garden for a stone house in Benbrook: a cedar pergola beside the pool, a gravel walk, a dry creek and new beds along the front.
Concept
Soften every edge. Planting wraps the pool terrace, the drive and the fence line, so the house sits in a garden rather than a lawn.
Structure
A cedar pergola on a stone terrace, a dry creek of river stone, gravel paths with cut stone steps, low stone walls and layered beds of flowering perennials and grasses.
Challenge
A large lot with a pool, a long drive and a slope, all of it reading as one plain lawn.
Result
A garden you walk through: the drive, the creek, the pool and the pergola in one line.
