MERIDIAN CABIN
Dallas, Texas · Studio projectA CABIN IN SADDLE LEATHER AND QUARTER-SAWN WALNUT.
Saddle leather and quarter-sawn walnut inside a Gulfstream G280: a club-four forward, a divan and two seats aft, and a galley detailed as furniture.
A cabin for the Gulfstream G280, a mid-size jet long enough for a club-four forward, a divan and two seats aft. The atelier gave it the same material language as a house on the ground: saddle leather, quarter-sawn walnut, brushed steel and wool, with seams and stitching treated as the detail.
The palette is limited to four materials: one tone of leather on every seat, walnut on the bulkheads and the galley face, brushed steel at the hardware and seat frames, and wool underfoot. Indirect light runs in a continuous cove above the windows, with no fixture in view.
Restraint in a space where every surface is close to the eye. With four materials and a single tone of leather, proportion and stitching define the cabin.
A cabin that feels like one room, warm and composed, and made by the same hand as the buildings.
